Today’s rides are straight from two of our intrepid map correspondents. Chris Innes brings us a sweet roller in Bluegrass Country, and Dana Allen sends us down in some pitch-perfect singletrack from the Rocky Mountain State.
First up, Chris of Lexington, Kentucky. He presents the “Shakertown Out-And-Back,” a 42-mile ride through rolling fields of bluegrass en route to a preserved Shaker religious community. Check out the map and ride report for more details.
From Crested Butte, Colorado, Dana sent us the Dyke Trail. This 27-mile loop starting from downtown Crested Butte that cruises beneath the shadow of towering aspens before ripping through a heinous singletrack descent. Check out the elevation profile and turn-by-turn ride report for more details.
How did they map these great rides? Good question. They used AllSportGPS on their mobile phone. Then they used the Bicycling.com Ride Maps tool to edit track and waypoint data. You can even upload photos and videos to your rides, and the Ride Maps tool will automatically geotag your photos (meaning, place them on the map) . It’s a snap.
